IEEE needed a solution to disambiguate its data so it could map authors and documents to the correct organization and improve data-driven decision-making.
Over its 140-year history, IEEE has worked with thousands of institutions and organizations worldwide. IEEE wanted deeper insight into its customer relationships, but manually disambiguating these organizations, as well as specific departments within the institutions, was difficult and time-consuming.
IEEE turned to Ringgold Solutions, part of the CCC Scholarly Communications Suite, to standardize and disambiguate its organization data. IEEE leveraged Ringgold’s 638,000 persistent identifiers (PIDs) and rich metadata to populate its critical systems with high-quality organization records and guide customers toward more customized subscriptions.
As a result, IEEE streamlined its submission process and no longer needs to manually disambiguate international organizational names and abbreviations. With Ringgold’s linked hierarchy structure, IEEE can now see relationships, reveal connections, and perform more granular reporting to improve business intelligence and strengthen customer relationships.
“We leverage Ringgold data to see where the usage is coming from, and it is used as a marketing lead to guide customers toward more customized subscriptions.”
